This story will make you think twice about complaining about your diet. It makes me so angry to see humans and especially women treated this way. It also makes me angry how much women (myself included) let the media dictate our satisfaction with our bodies. Finally, this story makes me happy to live in the U.S.A. where at least women have rights.

this is maybe even worse than the foot-binding practiced in China in the old days...
and, men used to be castrated to make them good singers.
You make a good point, that our culture's superiority is not that we don't have equally strange ideas about beauty, but that we have the right to accept or reject those ideas.
